I confess that I missed the first three minutes of the broadcast but surely a climax at the start would have been something of a premature exposition? Not being a regular listener, I wasn't really following who-said-what-to-whom all that well but nothing appeared to me to be of once-in-20000-episodes importance.

On the other hand, could Sarah Hehir have been in cahoots with TPTB in Westminster? Had they asked her to tone the episode down? By my reckoning, a former PM announced that he was now a former MP just three minutes after the closing bars of Barwick Green. If everybody in the UK had been talking about how the Canadian wildfires had jumped the Atlantic and how Ambridge was being reduced to a few charred stumps, would anybody have noticed that he had gone?
