I did taichi in lockdown too. I hated it. It was very difficult to learn
anything new and I only managed it because I knew the teacher very well
from proper classes before.

In general, I think zoom works fine if you're just watching people's
faces, and if the sound is good then the only thing I miss about real
life is the side interjections and glosses you get round a table which
can add a lot to the context of things. Now I live in Edinburgh I would
find it a pain to attend a lot of London meetings and so I value Zoom a
great deal.

I also love video calls - usually WhatsApp which doesn't care whether
you have an Iphone or an Android. I've seen my great-nieces do
completely adorable things that I would certainly have missed otherwise
and which are not conveyed by still photographs, and I've been able to
show people useful things or techniques that need live action to be
understood properly.

Apple allows us with disabilities to use their systems almost unaided out
of the box.

But they aren’t what they were and I actively hate the latest update to the
iMac which has destroyed everything I loved about the original design
including the fact that there is much less support for large print as a
function because it’s cheaper to believe we all use audio.

Although yesterday when I needed it to do the Teams job the software
decided that it could not find the meeting and I had no method of making
the presentation (or for the meeting to even happen). I am not sure if
I should blame Apple of Microsoft but one of the two has caused me huge
embarrassment and I declare a plague on both their houses.

Turn the camera off, it saves bandwidth, crucial when talking to people
overseas where bandwidth is slow.

The teacher and her husband who also did some of the teaching found it
hard to adapt to being on zoom. They did things in reverse. Dorri was
better than Yao.

I admit I knew the outline of the 24 step form already from other
classes but Dorri is better online than a couple of other local
teachers are in person :)

https://wellness.gosignmeup.com/public/Course/browse?courseid=4001

You do not get the actual sensation that being in the same location
gives, but the movements are so carefully explained and taught it
works in a different way. I imagine her in person classes, some in a
park in summer. must be amazing. Sadly, they are in Kansas.

They look rather apprehensive to me, as if they anticipate the
possibility of something happening that they would have to
strongly reprove. But I don't speak dog.

John: you probably want to put something such as an index.html file
into your temp directory. I accidentally ended up in there when I
clicked on the broken link. Sorry about that.

Lovely picture though.

Actually, Krystal had some sort of default protection against that, so
when someone tried to go to a directory where there wasn't an index
file, they got something else - I think it might have been "you are not
authorised" or similar. I _do_ have index files in some of my folders,
but I _wanted_ to get a file list for folders that didn't have one (such
as the temp one), and they were happy to turn it off for me. So no
apology needed; browse away! There's nothing that great to find: I
basically use the temp directory in the way many people use things like
dropbox, but without imposing acres of script on people. (Looking at it
now, I ought to prune it a bit as some of the files were specific to a
time.)

https://255soft.uk/Bingo/ shows what you normally get from Krystal -
actually a 404. That folder actually does exist -
https://255soft.uk/Bingo/dir.txt shows what's there, and you can paste
them in - e. g. https://255soft.uk/Bingo/21.%202020_01_04%2021_45.MP4
