I'm wondering if there is more wrong at GG than slipping schedules -
such as either very underestimated budgeting (the costs have run away),
or even some fraud (double-selling of shares or whatever, say, or
non-existent subcontractors).

It was just one of Aldi's many interactions sounded as if he was
desperate that something didn't come out in the open, and it sounded
like more than just things getting desperate in terms of schedules.
(I've just heard tonight's - Wednesday 2023-10-11's - episode, and
that's bad enough, but no sign of deliberate fraud so far.)

Yes, the slavers referred to the slaves as "horses". Partly just as an
indication to us of how they regarded them, partly I think so they could

It sounds as if you've got that crystal ball nicely polished there! It
sounds as if it's more likely to be down to incompetent, and maybe
wilfully blind, management rather than deliberate fraud, but any fraud
may emerge later.

Just how much has Adil consulted with Oliver or simply deliberately
destroyed everything he said would be left of the original building? Or
has simply overstepped his brief from the actual owners of GG?

A fule might think he would or, more likely, use wishful thinking to
assume that any problems in the design could be easily fixed / worked
around.

I suspect that Adil is, fundamentally, a marketing man without much (if
any) hands on experience as a hotelier. It sounded as if they have a
set of very pretty designs, which simply don't work in practice. In all
probability, the contractors had been banging their heads on a brick
wall, trying to make him recognise this for some time, and today was
simply the final straw.
