You can often trim before the first question mark: in this case,
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cl59jzk3wgyo worked fine. In fact
it's a good idea to do so (having checked it will work, of course)
before posting or emailing such a link, for two reasons:
1. Sometimes long ones get broken by the wrapping, especially if relayed
several times;
2. When the URL is <URL>?parameter=value&parameter=value&..., the values
often give some information you might not want others to know - from
things like what page you got to the wanted one from, which is probably
innocuous (unless you came from a dodgy site!), to your screen size, to
(although I don't think I've ever seen it) a password.
