I heard a similar rumour, except the farmer wanted the tree gone but outsourced the job to someone who was less likely to be named and shamed as a minor.

Anyway, it's a fucking tree. Plant another one and wait long enough...

Yeah, wouldn't surprise me. If that was the plan, it's possibly
backfired somewhat.

Exactly. With everything else going on we're getting wound up about a
fucking tree. Yes, it was wrong to do but really... sense of proportion.

To tell the truth I think Sunak probably paid someone to cut it down
so he didn't have to talk about the cancelling of HS2.
