I have here a MacBook running macOS 11.7.10

For some reason, messages don't seem to arrive there properly.

Messages can send iMessages, and they show up as sent on the user's iPhone,
and arrive on my devices as expected. However when I reply, my replies arrive
on the user's phone, but not on the MacBook.

The same happens with messages from other people.

Eventually - as in, a few days later - the messages mysteriously turn up on
the MacBook.

We've tried logging in and out of the account on Messages, etc, to no avail.

Any other suggestions?

Weirdly, if I start typing a message, the user can see in Messages that I'm
doing that - but when I send it, nothing arrives.
