4133 miles for me on the bikes this year (plus another hundred or so going up and down hills), of which 1432 have been pedal-powered.

Depends what you want. For me, the requirements were: ability to carry a
motorbike inside, shower/toilet and a permanently made up bed.
Campervans tend not to have most of these, but, they are faster and
lower fuel consumption.

Some better camper vans have everything you need including a cooker,
oven, microwave, bog, shower etc. Usually the diner converts to a bed
due to lack of space and some have a double bed in the Luton over
the cab. 2 berth is usual, 4 berth is OK, for more you need a
bigger motorhome.
One consideration is the MAUW, over 3500kg is a problem for some
drivers including the over 70s who need to apply for a special
bus licence which needs a medical certificate.

Quite a range of large campervans/small motorhomes up to about 6.5
metres long that are panel van conversions and tick most of the boxes -
except internal motorcycle stowage. Longevity of the base vehicle body
may then be an issue if acquiring one that is a bit leggy. A coach built
based on an AL-Ko chassis might last longer though the caravan
construction bits may need TLC.

Which is why many are just under 3500 Kgs. I think some foreign parts
have lower speed limit for > 3500 (unless on a motorway).

We will be hunting out a Transit Custom in the near future.

There is the added complication of how the vehicle is registered, the
DVLA have some very exacting criteria if it is converted.

This can hinder your speed, VED, toll prices and ferry costs.

Yeah, a campervan to me is usually a much smaller affair.

Now of course there are also Sport Homes, or whatever they are called. A
certain competitor that used to do the hills but has now moved up
market, has an amazing Man based one, but they are £££££££££££.

Also banned from certain areas. Just under 3,500Kgs without any diesel,
water, luggage or passengers in some cases. I'm pretty sure most are
over with the driver obliviously unaware.
