World King Boris was kicked out
On the tenth of Ju-une
All the Brexiteers a-pout
No, they said, too so-oon
Brightly shone the Civil Blob
But their judgement cruel
Boris did a lousy job
Because is a foo-oo-el.

But the Hallet Inquiry
Throws a different light
For those whose minds will let them see
His instincts were quite right
No lockdown was far the best
Sweden proofed the pud
Results were just like all the rest
But economy still goo-oo-ood.

Does the Times allow one to take a pot-shot at one of their own?

Ah yes, I remember. They jealously protect and support their annointed
ones until RM gives the nod and they then cast them out into the
cold[1]

Nick
[1]Boodily cold in Frankfurt last night. Not quite so cold by any
stretxh of the imagination here in Buenos Aires this morning

A second attempt:

The folly of Kigali
As it shall soon be known
Of all the things that are no good
This folly takes the crown

Poor rhyme, but original has grown/crown :)

Currently reading - or more honestly, it's on my night table waiting
for me to feel strong enough - The Sparrows of Kabul by Fred Smith.

Fred Smith is not his real name: that's just the one he goes by when
performing with his guitar in front of audiences. His real name is
Iain Smith and he's an Australian diplomat who was in Kabul at the
fall and in Afganistan and other places at other unfortunate times.

There's a music CD which accompanies the book called, unsurprisingly,
"The Sparrows of Kabul." The music is good but the subject matter is
grim - which is why I'm plucking up courage to read the book.
