Three and at least one voice not heard recently. I was a little
surprised we did not hear more from Shula after her brief appearance - I
thought they would probably interlace her with others.

Susan offers it to Chris?
Jill wanted to be asked to spend Xmas Day with Josh etc too?

I loved Jakob's handling of Lynda last night. The show has to be

Chris offers to babysit for Alice.
I want things to be ok for Freddie and worry that Vince is bullying

Are you still not listening?
Freddy sounds chipper these days, and enjoying his job. Not a smidgen of a

I began listening again a week or so ago but still worry about
Freddie. He might be being brave. Mum's bf as boss not always a good

I suspect he's going to grow up a great deal, working for Vince. It
must have been pretty soul destroying, working at LL, with everyone -
from his mother to most employees - assuming he was incompetent and
going to mess everything up.

But I blame his mother who did not manage to work with him towards
running the estate - nor did Nigel as Lizzie did that side of it. But
Niggle did come up with the ideas and tried to find a way forward for
the estate.

I totally agree with you there. She had him fixed in her mind as being
thick and incompetent and did very little to help him learn or become
more competent.

To be fair I am not convinced that the parenting gene is that good
across Ambridge.

David - absolutely useless in ensuring that Josh was trading legally
whilst parking his antique machinery on Brookfield land.

David - when Ben had a moment did not exactly shine

Shula - outsourced parenting to the Army

Kenton - sent his daughter to NZ

Tony - you only have to look at the mess over Helen and Tom ...

Jenny - Debbie ran away, Kate ran away, Alice had her wagon troubles

Lilian - James stays away

Need I say more?

Once again, I agree with you. The only examples of good parents, in
Ambridge, that I can think of are the Tucker family, in various
generations. AFAIR, Mike and Betty did OK, while Roy and Hayley were
excellent. Mike and Vicky may have done OK, although they, and Bethany,
were driven out of Ambridge.

I think Freddie will do that too. I don't see working for Vince as a
good career move. An estate management course and working for Rodway
would be better.

I agree that either of those, or a hospitality management course, would
be good options for Freddie, in the long run. In the short term though,
he needs to develop some confidence in his abilities though and the
belief that he may be capable of taking over LL in the future. At the
moment, he's been convinced that he's no good and that the trustees will
never allow him to take over, so why bother trying to do any of those
things.

Interesting choice of male or female half of some couples. For example I'd
say Pat bears at least as much responsibility for her awful progeny as
Tony does.

You missed the next generation: Kate. Repeat abandonment followed by
smothering. Tom pimping out the twins. Alice's alcoholism leads to
Martha having two households to commmute between. So far Adam and Pip
seem to be doing all right but the less said about Helen the better.
