Ah. Hi there.

It would appear that the hanging problem with usenet is down to NNTP
having been changed by Thunderbird.

It is supposedly "fixed" but apparently this fixes it:

Set mailnews.nntp.jsmodule to false in the Config Editor for now.

And with that in place I am not seeing the problem - but then there are
no posts on which to test the theory.

These days they are limited to five days. Historically there were
longer tests including the unfinished one where the English players had
to leave the ground to catch their ship home.

Originally it took as many days as required to achieve a result or for
the away team to have to rush to catch the boat home, whichever happened
sooner.

Worcester to Bromsgrove on the local bus went right by Droitwich. Friends
long since moved to Poole, not even been to Worcester since well pre covid
