Anyone have experience?

I was given a wire less non tether one by in&box and it looks like it
needs a £120/year subscription to work, the battery only lasts 30 hours
but if feels comfortable.

I would feel more confident with a tethered one so am looking at getting
my gifter to return it, any thoughts pro and con?

A couple of pals had the cable tied to bike type. One comical encounter
followed, one of them fell off at a junction, the other jumped off his
bike, forgetting about the attached lead, and promptly inflated, causing
him to fall over, and he couldnt get up then, like a tortoise on its
back, until it deflated. We hear the story at least twice a year when
one of them has had a drink.
One has upgraded to the lead free version. Gas canister in a pocket
apparently, with sensors somewhere, no ongoing costs, but need to be sent
back to Maker to have the canister refilled. Ive never asked about how
often it needs to be electrically charged up, but I do know he paid a
one off cost to buy it, and has to pay if it requires gas recharging.

But there are others available on well-known eCommerce sites that are so
useless that they are dangerous.

The RAC issued a report saying that some of these jackets didn't inflate
sufficiently quickly.

<https://www.racfoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/RCIP-2021-Safety-Advice-Notice-2021-02_-Motorcycle-jackets-intervention-times-and-standards.pdf>

At the risk of over-interpreting that report I would suggest that an
airbag jacket that inflates late is still better than an ordinary jacket
alone **provided** that wearing the airbag doesn't compromise your
original jacket.

Therefore: the vest type that fit over your ordinary jacket would seem
to be always beneficial because your ordinary jacket is still there and
functioning.

Types that fit under your existing jacket - and therefore require you to
wear you existing jacket more loosely - may result is less crash
protection should it not inflate in time.

Since yours is an under-jacket version I would try to find out more
about how effective its inflation ability and rapidity is.

Regards,

I (nearly) always forget to disconnect my heated jacket at petrol
stations so the likelihood of me setting off a tethered airbag jacket
is fairly high.

Same here.

Also, picking up the bluetooth speaker/phone/laptop while it is
being charged.

Next phone will have wireless charging if I have any sense.

I've found these to be great for saving charging port damage

Ordered, they charged me the eye-watering sum of $1.41.

I'm sure by the time it arrives I'll have forgotten all about it.

Got it in today's mail, 9 days after placing the order. Very nice,
a braided fabric covered cable, seems to charge as quickly as any
other USB-A to USB-C cable, plus a little extra length vs. the typical
1m offerings. Magnetic attraction seems to be quite sufficient to
prevent casual/unintentional disconnection. Recommended.

So presumably you leave the little plug permanently in your phone. Is
your phone in a case?

They really are good.

Yes and yes. Depending on how thick your case is you may have to do a wee bit of trimming but once
in there it stays put.

I've got every device in the house set up with these. Haven't had to do a cable hunt for years.
Even have a cable set up in the car with my phone mount.

Yes, I have a Pixel 5a 5G in the "official" Google case, and the plug
fits without interference.

One downside is that I can only use a USB-A charger, so no fast
charging with a USB-C charger.

I may decide to devote it to charging my JBL Charge 3 Bluetooth speaker
(with the Micro-USB plug), as that is probably the one device that
I have forgotten to disconnect more than any other.

Thanks for replies. That link is now showing out of stock, so orderd
from another supplier - with additional connector.

We shall see!

I've just done the same, ordered 3 of them from a different supplier,
USB-C on the charger end, just over $10 for the lot with free shipping.

Just do a brand search for Usilon, there's several sellers.
