I have always (almost, at least,) owned a 4-wheel vehicle, but I rarely
drive it. My Dodge Ram has sat undriven for at least 6 months. But since
the BMWGS has a serious electrical issue, and my FJR has developed a
couple of other problems, I may have to use the truck soon.
I hope the battery has a charge.

What's wrong with the GS and the FJR?

I thought anyone who owned a pickup must have run it at least once
every couple months due to friends needing to borrow it...

<old man>
I remember we used to borrow my great-uncle's Studebaker pickup
every spring to haul a load of manure for the vegetable garden.
It ran so smoothly and silently (inline six) that Dad keyed the
starter when we stopped at a junction because he thought the engine
had stalled. It hadn't.

I think this is what it looked like:

The GS probably has a fuel problem. It turns over, but won't start. This
is after getting and major tuneup and 3 new batteries from the BMW
dealer here. I need to take it to another mechanic to see what's wrong.

The FJR? I had new brake pads put in last week and now the front wheel
is screeching every once in a while when I brake. I can't see the
problem. And it may have an electrical issue, too.

I used to do a lot of my own work on bikes, but I've gotten old and my
body doesn't like that stuff any more.

That's what got it going the last time. My neighbor wanted a load of top
soil, and so I got one for myself, too. Only I haven't unloaded it
completely.

IKWYM.

I was seriously considering a hi-spec Ram here in CH (which are only
Grey imported, so not all the variants and options are always
available) a couple of years back, but the damn things are so huge I'd
have had to extend the parking area to house it. In the end decided to
stick with the Defender 110 instead.

Yep, I doubt my neighbours would have still spoken to me if I got one.

After thinking I wanted a Defender, I realised they can be an expensive pit.

Not sure of my choice of an MG TF being the correct one.....

Heh. I had one very briefly until the MOT ran out. I love them, but they
are very flawed. If I had a barn to keep vehicles, in, I'd have another.

Oh yeah. My Ram1500 looks normal here, but there are stock pickups that
make it look small. Can't imagine how they'd navigate in Europe.

I've worked more on this is 5 months than in 9 years of owning 2 MX5s

I was in Birmingham over the weekend (work) and travelled by bike (for,
reasons) and it was almost impossible to filter.

The lanes were fairly narrow (Blackwall Tunnel size) and the cars now
so huge it really is a struggle to get past two pickups or Teslas side
by side.

I know this isn't a new observation but it is becoming increasingly
stark. My old Jag which was a biggish car in the day looks tiny in the
supermarket car park.

What also didn't help was the drivers of the midlands seem to be less
aware of bikes filtering in the city centre. In comparison to, say,
the south east.
