It fixes the text overlapping issue. Other annoying bugs remain - see

I just acquired a free M1 MacMini which was running "Big Sur". I
updated it to "Sonoma", 10.14.3 A WEEK AGO OR SO. So far, no issues of
any kind, save that some other softwares whined about needing to be
updated, which I would have expected given that the Mini hadn't been
used since Plague Year.

She's now running several BOINC's and GIMPS and seems to be happy.

My MBP, Intel-chippy, which I previously updated from "Ventura" to
10.14.2.1 has now been lifted up to 10.14.3 without any problems so
far.

Is 10.14.3.1 worth it or should we wait a while for more bug-fixes?

I'm inclined to wait but the "Software updates are available" thingy
irks me.

J.

Well, one issue but I think it's hardware-related. The USB-C
connectors slurp data from small external hard drives through
USB-A-to-C connectors but they don't even see larger ones, not even my
T"Time Machine" backup drive.
I'm looking for a workaround for that one but it's not looking
hopeful.

The MBP did like a USB-C-to-Ethernet wire with which I migrated my
userid, data and settings to the gifted Mini. That was neat. It took a
while but it was ever so easy.

I am still rather hurt that Apple didn't see fit to include just
*one* legacy USB-A port into the MBP but there's not a lot I can do
about this.

I'm *always* inclined to wait, usually until you guys report back
with all of the nasties in an update and how to fix them. I'm too old,
tired and clueless on Macs to search for them myself.

Thank you.

I don’t appear to have been affected by the text overlapping issue. But
I’ve not yet read the complete set of release notes - for instance there’s
probably some security fixes too. It’s also worth reading comments from
people who have done the update. Whatever I’ll probably update my M1 Mac
tomorrow!

Well I've gone for it now including the corresponding iOS and iPadOS updates.
Nothing seems to have gone wrong ... gone wrong ... gone wrong ... gone wrong

x.x.1 releases are usually fine. They're minimal bug/security fixes so less
likely to break anything or introduce anything annoying.

Okay, so I got tired of the hint that my MBP wanted fed and I updated
to 14.3.1 a couple of days ago.

It took a while to download, it took a while ... oh, you've heard
that song before? Well, it did.

It did, however, update perfectly cleanly, so far as I know. The last
reboot even opened all of the windows I had been using.

It's been a couple of days. So far, no issues.

I recommend 3.1, full of vitamins and minerals and she has that magic
ingredient, Parasliceum Core X57 which cleans greener than any other
polytronic system on the market today!

Or something like this.

J.

Still can’t get TM to talk properly to my WD NAS over WiFi :( I read
somewhere that Apple updated SMB for Sonoma. However using my minimal
Sonoma 14.4 beta system on a separate volume set, it seems to be working.
Maybe there’s hope of a solution on the horizon :)

I’ve just installed 14.3.1 onto my old MacBook Pro (2017 2x USB-C model,
non-Touch Bar).

It’s a first generation of non-supported machines for Sonoma, so I’ve used
OCLP to get it installed. That had worked very well for my old 2013 iMac,
but I had a bit of bother when I first tried it when Sonoma first came out.

That does of course work prove the old ‘never install a 1.0 release’ thing,
and OCLP was a bit behind at that time. It does usually take them a few
weeks to get updates done to cover the more obscure hardware (I always seem
to get one of those!).

It’s matured a bit better now, and after a few days, it’s not showing any
signs of causing problems anywhere. Everything is working well, even the
cheap generic Ethernet adapter I am using is just fine.

I am quite amazed, and delighted, at how well this does actually work.

Yes I used OCLP on my Intel MBA to upgrade it to Ventura and it worked
quite successfully. I re-installed Monterey as I thought it might be
useful to have a Mac running an older version of macOS. I'm not sure that
it has proved that useful other than to prove that my WD NAS doesn't work
too well with Ventura and, in the case of my M1 Mac, is a complete mess
with Sonoma even when to the router via a LAN cable rather than WiFi.
