Time Machine is complaining that a backup cannot complete because a file
is missing. This isn't surpirsing as it's an Outlook temp file which is
under /Users/<username>/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Outlook. I'll
add that to the exclusion list, I thought, however, that folder is also
temporary and therefore can't be added to the exclusion list via the TM UI.

So, firstly, how do I exclude a (currently) non-existent folder from TM
backup? Is there a commandline option I could use?

Secondly, how can I get TM to resume backup despite the missing file?

And, more generally, what folders does everyone routinely exclude from
TM backups? The only one I have currently is the main Outlook folder as
that's huge and pointless to backup.

Update. It wasn't a non-existent folder, but a hidden one. In the TM
folder chooser dialogue it doesn't show hidden folders and nor can you
enable it to do so like a normal Finder window, it seems.

Through a google, I found you can drag folders to the TM dialogue,
however, which I did and now TM is happy again.

I excluded the OneDrive folder as there seemed to be some TM (and CCC) errors
due to files not being synced. Xcode.app contains a massive set of folders
and files but can easily be reloaded if lost or corrupted.
