I have started to see the following message appearing on my MacBook Air.

"App_assistant" will damage your computer.
You should move it to the Bin.

I'm using OS 14.1.2

Can anyone advise me how to get rid of it?

Could be a malicious Safari extension that’s got installed when browsing
certain websites. You can check this out using Safari preferences and
disabling/removing it from the extensions settings. Also Malwarebytes might
be worth running.

This malware might also have got into your login items?

Open System Preferences and select Users & Groups.

Choose your account

Click Login Items tab.

Find the app_assistant entry. Select it, and click the “-“ button to remove
it.

Search "app_ass" in Spotlight. When found, move the thing to the Bin.
Empty the Bin.

That usually works for me. :)
