You missed the point that during those several hours, not attention is
required, and I can do other things elsewhere. Even if I leave it an hour
longer than intended, it will be happy, smell good, and be ready to eat if
I cook a few veg to go with it.

The extra portions take about 10 minutes, including veg, when taken from
the freezer.

Two lots of attention _are_ required: the decision to do it in the first
place, and the remembering that it's happening so you can attend to it
when it's finished. Yes, it's a tiny amount of attention, but not zero.
Even if you automate - some sort of timer - you still need to do
something with it when it's finished.

I very rarely do veg.

What, do _two_ - or even more! - cooking things at once?

Our rooms were definitely at room temperature today as they have been all week and probably will be all next. There's a layer inversion/heat dome or something over us and it's peaked in the high thirties every day.

I don't know what "room temperature" the local Cabernet Sauvignon was served at tonight: we poured it out whilst we were on the balcony with the temperature dropping back to 29 or so and it was delicious.

I hope they had visited Niagara first because I think they will find Niagara distinctly underwhelming after seeing Iguazú.

I actually found Niagara slightly underwhelming when we went there,
although they are a decent set of falls. Iguazú were not that
impressive on our first day, but on the second day someone had turned on
the water flow by opening a dam and so they were far more impressive.

Doubt that I will ever get to Victoria.

I can’t keep up with my cruise or flying the world friends. There’s
several couples, where the wofe has little or no sight, and at least one
couple with sight like mine who’re doing a couple of these things a year.
I think they’ve all done Niagra one side if not both. Generously, they
send me details of their travels.

You remind me of the exchange - about a mysterious mutual acquaintance -
with someone prone to malapromisms or similar:

"He was a weird old bird. Quite an enema."

"Surely you mean 'enigma'."

"Er - right. He was a Nigma."

(I forget where from - some comedy film I think.)

I was considering another possibility as a simile, Viagra, but I decided
no-one was likely to rise to it.

I read in a newspaper recently that Viagra is looking promising as a
way of slowing down the onset of Alzheimer's disease. Even if doesn't
reduce the effect of dementia, a good, strong dose given to the male
patients in the geriatric ward will at least make sure they don't roll
out of bed in the middle of the night.
