Alice is sober and allegedly has brains on stalks. She would never have
contemplated trying to talk to a senior officer like that.

You cannot expect a developer to work around a hindrance like a tree - a
site will be cleared completely and then work will commence. If they
were concerned previously then a tree preservation order would have been
considered alongside opposition to the planning application as a means
of holding up the development - so as it was not done then it is no use
crying over spilt milk.

It feels like no-one is bothered about quality - just fill the airtime.
