I access Google from 3 different devices: computer, tablet & 'phone. I
got caught out a few times before I discovered that what is entered on
one device doesn't automatically appear on the others. I have to tell
them to Sync. Well, on my tablet & 'phone "Sync now" appears at the
bottom of a list of options when I tap the 3 bars at top left of the
screen. But how the heck to I Sync from the pc? Can't find that option
anywhere.

Mine updates automatically - if I add a task or event on my phone, the
computer updates immediately, I've just tested it. If I add something on
the computer, then I have to close and reopen or 'sync' the phone or tablet.

Does yours not do that?

And on mine (same setup) I never do anything to update or sync. It all
just works. The only thing that doesn't sync is a widget on my phone
home page which has the date and time and shows the next calendar event.
That isn't always accurate, though as I rarely use it for the calendar
part I don't mind.

Silly question maybe - whilst I know I can access Google calendar in a
web page it is visible on a PC using the calendar part of the
Thunderbird - which also has a sync button. So may I ask how you are
doing the access on the PC please?

I think it's meant to be possible to link them, but requires an
extension, or two, in TB and quite a bit of fettling. I used to have it
set up but then TB was updated and it stopped working. I failed
miserably when I tried to get it re-fettled.

I'll be interested to see if anyone else has advice on how to do it!

https://calendar.google.com/calendar/ and then various codes which
presumably link it to me via my Gmail account.

I gave up using the Thunderbird add-on ages ago, it was so glitchy. I
prefer to use plain internet access logged in with my Gmail account as
it then works on phone and tablet as well.

This thread prompted me to have another go. I did some googling and
came up with this suggestion:
aka <https://tinyl.io/AMs5>.

I followed the advice given and it's worked. Sort of. It's downloaded
my google calendar into TB but seems very reluctant to synchronise with
Google. I've set it to synchronise every 5 mins but it actually only
seems willing to do this when I open TB. Having the calendar open on
the screen also takes up a lot of screen space - if I'm going to have to
keep it on a separate page and switch across to view it, I might as well
just switch to my browser to look at my Google Calendar page.

Sorry for the delay in getting back about this: rather a lot going on,
ending up with cataract surgery yesterday.

I've investigated a bit further and found that it is the tablet which is
the problem. A few times I have arranged to dog-sit for my sister and
then found I wasn't seeing the booking on my (pc) calendar and a couple
of other things, which I now realise would also have begun life on my
tablet. The PC and 'phone do seem to be talking to each other but even
Syncing the tablet didn't seem to work the other day.

On a slightly related note, when adding an event on my 'phone I can
select the precise time but the pc only allows intervals of 15 mins. My
next optician appt. is 15.20, but I had to tell the pc 15.15.

That last is something which always annoys me, too. You can specify the
time accurately, on the PC but you have to over type the entire time, so
the full 15:20, you can't just overtype the 15 with 20 :(

If you click at the end of the time, you can backspace to delete the 15,
then type 20 instead.

It is not clear that that is quicker than simply overtyping the entire time.
