This lunchtime the WWP news went into a simla orgy over the pegging of a
journo. That Clive Mirie fellow was almost in tears as he introduced the
segement, and a various of others joined in. Ten minutes, it went on.
That's a third of the news program. George Alagiah it was, who's kicked it.
You'd have though it was royalty.

Decent enough chap, the deceased; I quite enjoyed his style of reporting.
But goodness me, what a palava.

Terrorism Dept at the nagsexpectoratum wanting to talk about grab-rails
into the bathroom. Carer arrives and shuts front door. Firm of bee
removers turns up, so I have to abandon carer FTTB. It's all nice and
compact, in that the bees are in the flat roof of the bathroom. Ask
OTerrirosts to go away FTTB.

Nothing much for carer to do - hardly any food in the place and today's
shopping trip cancelled due to lack of staff. No milk, no potatoes, no
On!ons, no other fresh vegeatables, no spring rolls, duck pancake
rolls, samosas, no pasties or chooking and mushroom slices, peppered
steak slices <aside> cow dispatched with shotgnu? </aside> no mini apple
grumbles, nuffin'.

It's already more than sicks of mumfs since one wbo making wheelchair
access through the fromt door possile, and now they want to wait until
thephysioterrorists have been engaged, and have got me walking after
some fashion before they will think of arranging <+ long wait> for grab
rails.

This is a return to the NHS fred TAAAW.

But I've still not heard of Vince Hill, and only a vague fear that a
'modern beat como' might be some form of repetitive audio torture.

Me? Grumpy? No way! I'mfair on the boil. Added to that it will cost me
fifty grand to have thse bees removed: the ickle ossd have chosen to
nest in a place wher the whole flat roof will have to be replaced. Get
at them through the ceiling? No way - it's asbestos...

My neighbour has bees in her kitchen wall. Last year, they put a roofer
off pointing my chimneystack[1], so I had a quick sort-of look about how
to get rid of an inconvenient hive ... and got the impression it was
going to be bad, but I hadn't realised it was anything like that bad.

[1] He now says it's ok, he'll go up the other side, he's just waiting
for the weather (I dunno what was wrong with last month, harrumph!)

Has a bee company been approached? Could the bees be smoked out into a
new hive and taken away. It would be better than major building works.

I put this up as a suggestion, not being a beekeeper. Bees frighten me,
the last time I was stung (it was on the thumb), it was three months
before I stopped having pains running up my arm.

The previous time I was stung, by a wasp, in the gum and required
medical treatment.

About fifty years ago, I left the girl that was to be my wife home, and
as we sat in the car, discussing politics, I became aware of a humming
noise. Bees had a nest in the low corner of the roof. They were still
there the last time I called. Bees and wasps are part of God's Nature.
Leave them alone, if possible,

Sympathies - you have every right to be grumpy and beyond. Fifty grand to
replace a flat roof sounds OTT to me - might be worth getting a few more
quotes. We've just had grab rails installed in the bathroom as part of a
bigger job - well worth it, I recommend nagging them till you get them.

I could perhaps clear up a couple of the issues puzzling you (pop music -
ah, don't we love it):

Vince Hill was a crooner type in the '60s(IIRC). Not to my taste.

The 'popular beat combo' of mythology was The Beatles. Again in the '60s, a
high court judge was lampooned by the daily scandal sheets for asking who
The Beatles were when they were mentioned in a court case that he was
presiding over. The answer "a popular beat combo, milord" has gone down in
history as a statement of the beedin' obvious. The rags decided in their
wisdom not to explain to the masses that judges have a responsibility to
make sure the the facts of a case are fully explained and documented in
court, and it was his duty as presiding judge to ask that question, even
though he almost certainly knew the answer. But there's no point in
allowing honesty to get in the way of a good tabloid story.

'Twas the bee(gone) company that estimated the cost. We did talk about
alternatives, and I have a few harebrained ideas myself which involve
diverting them into more suitable accommodation. But if it can't bee
done they're welcome to stay.Ihave been almost covered in bees when a
swarm thought I might molish a good airfield, but fortunately they
decamped beefore they beecame too heavy fo me to support all our weight(s).

A packet of Weights might have made them swarm off...

Oh, I like beeses, my step-uncle kept them and I got used to them aged
in single figures. I've jbexru amongst bees, and the idea of removing
them wasto have my own hive(s), not to be rid of them. If I can't entice
them into a nice tidy hive they're welcome not to buzz-off.

The expense was occasioned by the desire to extricate the colony and
transferring it into a hive, the cost of beekeeping equipment and that
hive, and the fact that this would involve the complete removal of the
flat roof, requiring a specialist asbestos team, and an arj roof.

The ceiling is asbestos sheets, something I didn't xabj.If I were fit
and able I'd take the ceiling out <Tone>mesen</Tone>. (Dremel and ickle
drill-bit, remve sealing ceiling paper, drill pilots in tacks, drill -
head drops off, ceiling falls down, Hurrah! TFD!

Well, I'd support the ceiling, but the bees nest would probably cement
it there. Then I'd get the Bee Off company to transferthe brood - prolly
when they're sleepy during the winter.
