I@ve got this on my redcurrant. I think it was there last year as well,
but I had such a good crop (boxes still in freezer!) that I'm not that
worried about it. This year look like a heavy crop again!

My eyesight is deteriorating so badly that I can't see the pic
distinctly but I *think) it is a leaf-boring grub which does little harm
except in major infestations (ADC to Col. Blight?).

Favourite (for the bush) is to remove affected leaves and stalks and
burn them. (the grubs don't like it a lot, though)

According to all the books I have read, aphids, but they are too small
to see with the naked eye, if so. Anyway spraying with soft soap or
a detergent solution (with a splash of meths), especially the underneath,
helps. Badly affected leaves are best removed.

Regards,
Nick Maclaren.
