I've just taken delivery of a garden shed, and want to paint the
outside with wood preservative and to darken the colour, but it is
close to a fence and there are some parts that are difficult to get
at. A long-reach spray wand would be useful. Can I use my ordinary
garden spray which has a long wand, and still be able to use it later
for spraying plants etc if I wash it out well afterwards, or will the
preservative permanently contaminate it? Has anyone done this?

Gardening in West Cornwall, very mild, sheltered

I suppose that depends on the preservative - and how picky thre plants are.

An oil-based preservative *may* hooter-up the innards of your spray. A
Water-based one is unlikely to.

Most wood preservatives are oil-based, so check that there are n0o
rubber components in your sprayer.

You could invest in one of those pump-up pressurised sprays with a wand
on the end of a pipe.
