Hear! Hear!

A community service punishment is called for: doing something
useful such as litter-picking.

Corporal punishment for fools like this caught in the act so to speak.
These people don't care if anyone supports their goals, they just want
to cause outrage to get exposure.
Birching, live on tv between innings of the next match. The cricket
viewing figures will rise and the protestors will get loads of
exposure. It's a win win.

The world governments and big business has been largely ignoring the issue for 40-50 years, direct action is justified

Is whipping them in public not a justifiable direct action against
anti social behaviour, vandalism and criminal damage?
We deal with naughty behaviour using what you called direct action as
well, though it's also known as community justice around here. If you
fuck about with the community you get a couple of rounds in the knees,
ankles, hamstrings etc. There have even been a couple of crucifixions.
The little scrotes who rob your house and the conceited assholes who
participate in criminal damage are all criminals, each and every one
of them. They share the exact same difficulty with understanding
ethical consequentialism.

Over 50 years ago there was a protest march here, it was peaceful
direct action for a very worthy cause. However the protest march had
been banned and the resulting run in with the RUC (police at the time)
began a process that resulted in the deaths of over 3000 people.

So to claim that direct action is justified means that you must stand
over whatever consequences arise from that action. It's no good coming
back after someone has been killed or maimed crying you didn't support
that happening.

But how is trying to disrupt people's enjoyment of a cricket match
supposed to convert anyone to their cause? If anything it is likely to
turn people against it. By all means stage a peaceful protest outside
the ground, but trying to prevent or delay a lawful event that people
have paid good money to watch is just plain wrong. It might be different
if the event involved cruelty to humans or animals, or was extremely
damaging to the environment, but that hardly applies to a cricket match.
