Three men have been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a cyclist in Grimsby.

The victim suffered life threatening injuries after a collision with a car on Carnforth Crescent, on the Grange estate, but sadly died a few days later. Two men were originally arrested for the incident, but a third has now also been arrested.

The three men aged 19, 20 and 22 are being questioned and remain in custody while investigations continue. Humberside Police were called to the scene at around 5.20pm on Sunday, 21 May, after the crash involving a bike and a grey Vauxhall Crossland.

Tragically, the cyclist died on Wednesday, 24 May and his family are being supported by specially trained officers. Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Alan Curtis, said, “As part of our enquiries, we have arrested a 19-year-old man, a 20-year-old man and a 22-year-old man on suspicion of murder.

"All three remain in police custody whilst we continue with our enquiries. We understand that a tragic incident of this nature will cause shock and concern to the local community, but I would like to reassure the public that this is an isolated incident between individuals known to each other.

“I would like to thank members of the public who have already assisted with our investigation. Our enquiries to identify the circumstances surrounding the man’s death continue and we would ask anyone with any further information to come forward.
