Argentina Women v Chile Women, played a few days ago

https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/chile-women-in-argentina-2023-24-1402761/match-schedule-fixtures-and-results

in 3 matches, Argentina made a total of 1060 runs for 8 wickets to Chile's 104 for 30.

Those were the 1st, 2nd and 4th-largest margins of victory by runs in all T20Is of either gender.

Ouch. I've advised my daughters that if they want to play
international cricket, they should move to Chile ASAP.

The opening up of cricket for the Olympics is surely going to
throw up some other /very/ weak teams that may be recruiting?

For sure.

I had to google this, but there was a T20 last February where the
Isle of Man was bowled out for 10 by Spain, and Spain took two balls
(both sixes) to win.

Scorecard at:

https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/isle-of-man-in-spain-2022-23-

the Argentinas scored 427-1 without a single 6.

in the 1st match chile bowled 64 wides. so in a 20 over innings they
bowled nearly 31. They did a bit better in the 2nd match, but in the
last they were bowled out for 22, 21 came in extras, which also must
be a record? Must have been very dispiriting but Chile have beaten Mexico and
peru, whereas the mens team have just lost to both.

i think i read that it was going to be limited to the top 8 or 6 sides in
the world.

Yes, the previous highest proportion was 7 in an innings of 8 (Maldives
v Nepal in 2019).

In all, 65 of Chile's 104 runs were extras. One player had an innings of
27; the next highest score with the bat was 5.

"Organisers for the LA Games have proposed a six-team event, but no firm
decision has been made on the number of teams, or how they will qualify."

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/67120460

Six seems a bit pathetic.

Maybe they'll use the same format that baseball used in Tokyo, also with
6 teams. There were 16 games, and South Korea played in 7 of them,
including playing 3 teams twice each.

yes although most team comps in the olympics are seeded or selective,
otherwise theyd never end if everybody could enter a team. but even 6 teams
means 33 games at least and they do only have 2 weeks.

Not quite. They bowled 6 wides, but 8 were scored, so Argentina must
have run 2. I see that one bowler bowled 17 no balls in her only over,
which conceded 52 runs.

A full round-robin would be 15 matches, so if that was followed by
semi-finals and gold- and bronze-medal matches, that would be 19 (x2 for
men and women).

They might not be very good, but how could they managed to bowl that
many no-balls? If most were for overstepping, then surely it should be
too difficult to adjust the run-up?

Only 18 games. Yes, six teams play five games each in the round robin,
but as each game involves two teams that's only 15 matches, plus
presumably two semi-finals and a final. It will still be a very busy
schedule, though.
