POLICE are hunting a motorist who drove off from the scene after hitting a teenage cyclist.

The teenager was injured after the collision on Langbar, Whiston, on Thursday afternoon, June 15.

Police confirmed that inquiries are ongoing to find the driver of a car which "failed to stop" at the scene.

A Merseyside Police spokesman said: "We can confirm we received a report of a road traffic collision involving a cyclist and a car in Whiston this afternoon.

"At around 4pm it was reported that a teenage cyclist had sustained minor injuries after colliding with a car on Langbar.

"The driver failed to stop at the scene and our inquiries are ongoing to locate him.

"If you witnessed this incident or have any information, contact us via @MerPolCC on Twitter, ‘Merseyside Police Contact Centre’ on Facebook, or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
