A man who died in a crash in Bentley is to be given the perfect send-off, involving cyclists and 100 runners.

Ben Jacobs was killed in a crash involving two cyclists and a car on Wednesday, May 17.

The 47-year-old was out cycling with his friends, Darren Cook, Jason Taylor and Dave Solomon when the incident occurred.

On Tuesday, Mr Jacobs is set to get the perfect send-off as family and friends come together to celebrate his life in a more unusual style.

He will be taken from the offices of GM Taylor Independent Funeral Directors to Greshams in Ipswich.

This will be done, in the style of a Tandem Hearse, which is set to be ridden by a professional cyclist and Mr Jacob's son.

They will initially be joined by the three riders who were with him the day the incident happened, and, as they pass the family home, they are set to be joined by around 20 more cyclists.

Along Tuddenham Road, they are then set to pick up somewhere in the region of 100 runners who will run with them the rest of the way, and form a guard of honour for the cyclists to travel through as Mr Jacobs is taken into the service.

Mr Jacobs was very popular in the Ipswich parkrun scene, being one of the race directors, and he was also a proud member of Felixstowe Road Runners.

Just after his death, a fundraiser was set up to help the family with costs they were not expecting by long-term friend, Steve Harding.

The fundraiser has now raised £16,360 since it started.

At the start of the month, Ben's family, wife Faye and children Holly, Tom and Olivia, paid tribute, saying: "Ben was a brilliant husband who always made me laugh and feel safe.

"He loved being a dad, was always supportive and took his responsibilities very seriously.

"He will forever be missed."
