Various jar/bottle opening devices do exist - but as it's Bovril, I'd
let it stay unopened.

not too hot in case it cracks the glass.

I used to like Bovril, wonderful for warming up after coming in on a
cold morning, currently too salty. Perhaps if I actually went out

I don't recommend that trick these days. Doors are now made of tissue
paper and kindling, so they aren't up to the wbo any more.

I made the doors for this place out of oak faced MDF because it's
heavy, sound deadening and hard to burn but even they aren't much good for
that sort of use, the MDF is too soft. Now if I'd made them out of oak
lamwood[1] like the stairs ...

[1] One of the benefits of building near the low point of a recession,
purnc high quality materials from people going out of ohfvarff.

I run under hot water, the right way up, but the wipe the thread is

Keep a stock of rubber bands (apply to your postman) and place a
suitable band around the cap to aid grip when wrestling with the task.

If its a new bottle, then often pressing in the middle of the cap can undo
the seal. If its old then the warm water usually works on similar bottles.
There is a natty device sold by RNIB that works quite well on bottles and
jars. Back in the old days I used an old strap wrench. Brian
