Noticeable by its absence this year.

We have a clematis "Vyvyan Pennell" which usually comes up fast in
April/May and gets whacked by clematis wilt once it reaches 1 - 1.5m. It
then reshoots and we get half-a-dozen or so decent flowers. This year it
appeared in early April, and grew really well. It started flowering in
early May, has had upwards of 20 flowers, and there has been no sign of
wilt. We've seen wilt in recent years on a couple of other clematis too,
but not this year.

Anyone suffered from it this year?

We bought one last year, and it grew fine. This year it seemed to be
suffering... but on checking the symptoms were entirely compatible with
drought. A few buckets and it's been fine for the last month.

Is it maybe that because of the dry spring and now summer drought that
we have all been careful about watering. I have been watering some
of our plants since April.
