Dunno. I shrifted them shright as they were not shright for me.

Which reminds me of what was probably an urban myff.

My mother told me of a probationer nurse (not my mother, she said). The
probationer was on her first night shift on a geriatric ward and was
told, by the staff nurse, to collect all the false teeth and clean them.
She took a large bucket round to each bed and collected all the pairs of
false teeth. Of course they were collected unlabelled!

It took the probationer until the middle of the following day to match
the sets of teeth and then match them to their owners.

IRTA Ship Ha'penny. Used to collect those for charity when I was a boy
sprout. I have no idea why we collected the ha'pennies with ships on the
back - perhaps it was considered more of a challenge to sort those
particular coins out of a bucket-load of ha'pennies.

King Charles already has experience with the Maundy Thursday

the service. Covid-19 restrictions precluded holding Royal Maundy
ceremonies in the previous two years so the last time that Her
Majesty personally distributed Maundy Money was in 2019 at St
George's Chapel, Windsor Castle. Over her long reign, the late
Queen gave out coins at every Anglican cathedral in England.

Was there any other sort? - or was it just an easy means of separating
English coinage from (eg) Francs?
I suspect it had more to do with honing observation skills!

Yes. Having just gurgled it I see that most of the coins had Brittania on
the back.

misleading.
