Grim photographs of the makeshift grave where charity cyclist Tony Parsons was buried by evil drunk driver Alexander McKellar and his twin brother have been released for the first time.

McKellar, 31, pled guilty to the culpable homicide of Tony Parsons, 63, who was knocked down near Bridge of Orchy in Argyll and Bute, on September 29, 2017.

McKellar and his twin brother Robert then attempted to conceal the crime by taking Mr Parsons' body to woods in the nearby Auch Estate, where his remains were discovered.

His body was found after McKellar took his girlfriend to the grave site where he had buried Tony three years earlier and confessed to the crime. The horrfied woman left a can of Red Bull at the isolated grave site as a marker before phoning the police.

The Crown Office has released an image of the boggy field where the woman left the marker so officers could find the remote location.

Images were also released of the truck used to transport Tony's body after Alexander went back to the scene of the crime with his brother, as well as the truck he was driving at the time of the crash, which he then had repaired to hide the damages.

An area view of the Auch Estate where the twins disposed of the body shows just how remote the area is where the cyclist was buried. It's understood that Tony may have never been found without the woman's revelation.

Alexander McKellar was drunk driving at an “excess speed" on the A82 when he struck the grandad with his Isuzu D-Max pick-up.

He left Mr Parsons at the side of the road “in a remote location during the hours of darkness and in inclement weather”, causing his death. They later returned in another vehicle and placed the cyclist, along with his bicycle and other belongings inside.

They moved him to woods in Auch Estate, before then moving his body to another location which was used to dispose of dead animals. There, they dug a grave and buried him, as well as disposing of his belongings.

They pretended the damage caused to their car had been due to striking a deer and sought to conceal that Mr Parsons had been struck.

Tony had set out on a charity cycle having battled prostate cancer, which was diagnosed in 2010.

He planned to ride through the night to complete the 100 mile journey from Fort William back to his home in Tillicoultry, Clacks in one day. Mr Parsons initially headed north by train on the morning of September 29 2017.

He was last seen at the Bridge of Orchy Hotel around 11pm that night. The cyclist was reported missing and a large-scale search operation was launched..

It wasn’t until January 2021 – more than three years after he was killed – that Mr Parsons’ remains were discovered.
