In the last day or so there does seem to have been a lot of very hard rain,
even hail at one point, which points to some very high cloud tops, yet its
not that cold outside but the hectopascals ie Milibars, are dropping.
Which reminds me Have we all got to start calling a barometer a
hectopascalmeter now?
Brian

A pascalometer or a pasometer perhaps, after all it isn't a
milibarometer.

No, but to match Millibars you need a strange division of millibars. I guess
the question really is, why did airlines and many other authorities change
from Millibars to Hectopascals in the first place. Is it another case of who
measured air pressure first

Hectopascalls seems just a little odd. Its getting to be abit like Farads,
where a 1 farad capacitor would be huge, so we have picofarads, microfarads
etc.
