Having a good crop this year, grown in pots outdoos, rather than the
usual Growbag. BUT many of the tomatoes are splitting their skins before
being fully ripe for picking, both the Gardeners Delight variety and
another one which I was given, and I think is Beefsteak.

Any obvious reason for this?

My grandparents had the same issue this year. Maybe it is because of
the high sun radiation. We had weeks with almost no clouds.

Not enough water when the tomatoes were small, and too much as they were
reaching maturity.

Gardening in West Cornwall, very mild, sheltered
from the West, but open to the North and East.

Too much water. My outside tomatoes have split after the recent rain.

That is interesting thanks. Thinking about it, I did start with the pots
just standing on the ground, and later moved then onto trays to stop
them getting dry. Oh, must try and remember that for next year!
