A delivery driver has been issued with a £4,560 fine for fly-tipping.

Luke Poulton, 30 of Yeates Field View, Warminster, pleaded guilty at Salisbury Magistrates Court on 9 October.

The court heard Mr Poulton had been given money by two Westbury residents to collect and dispose of rubbish lawfully.

But instead of disposing the rubbish at a commercial tip, the waste was left on land off Short Street in Chapmanslade, the court was told.

Councillor Caroline Thomas, Wiltshire Council cabinet member for transport and street scene, said fly-tipping is not just unsightly but potentially damaging to the environment and wildlife.

"It is a criminal offence, one which we take very seriously here in Wiltshire," she added.
