Paul Seddon, 31, of Brookland Avenue, Hindley, appeared before Wigan justices to plead guilty to driving a Honda Accord dangerously on the narrow and residential Barnsley Street, Wigan, on March 14 2023 and not having the correct insurance.

He was given a six month custodial sentence, magistrates saying he had a "flagrant disregard for people and their property."

He was also disqualified from driving for 12 months.

Noting that the driver pleaded guilty, is this "driving dangerously" the
same thing as "dangerous driving" or is it something else completely?

As for the insurance offence, it is gratifying to see that it is being
investigated thoroughly enough for extant insurance to be separated into
"correct" and "incorrect" varieties.

But the burning question...

....how was the chav on the chav-bike involved?

PS: Barnsley Street in Wigan doesn't seem any narrower than any other
terraced street in Wigan and a lot of other places. Even better, it is a
one-way street, meaning that vehicles don't have to do the usual "After
you, Claude" dance (because they are all going in the same direction).

Perhaps the "danger" arose out of a chav on a chav-bike travelling in
the wrong direction in a one-way street? That would surprise no-one,
would it?

Or even being sentenced to six month behind bars?

Well... some publicans do complain that they can't get enough staff.
Perhaps this is the modern equivalent of six months as a galley-slave.
