According to R4 news this morning, private sales of EVs fell 25% in
January, as consumers shun the high costs, inconveniences, and poor
infrastructure involved with EVs.

Company sales account for most of the EVs on the road.

Holland, that healthy cycling Utopia where deaths from the major diseases
are at the same rate as the UK, has 1.5 million charging points despite a
population ‘four times smaller’ than the UK, with its vastly inadequate
total of 53677 chargers (Jan 2024).

The government is going to have to throw a lot of taxpayer money at
taxpayers in order to incentivise private sales.

The boss of Toyota was last week quoted as stating that EVs will never
be able to replace the current car / van / bus fleet, managing (at best)
to provide a significant minority - but a minority all the same - of the
global need for transport. This is mainly because of vehicle range
limitations and because of difficulties with charging or battery
replacement out on the road.

Given the fire risk on top of that, here is one user who has no plans to
buy an electric vehicle.

I was offered a Tesla rental car last year in the USA. I refused it
immediately.
