A 59-year-old Alloa woman almost caused a crash by driving through a red light.

Allison Ross had her elderly mother in the car at the time.

The driver of another car, who had to slam on her brakes to avoid being hit, was accompanied in her vehicle by her young son.

Ross, of Victoria Street, appeared for sentencing at Alloa Sheriff Court.

She admitted that on 14th January last year on the A907 at Cambus she drove a car carelessly, drove through a red light, forcing another driver to take evasive action to avoid a collision.

The court heard that Ross’s driving licence had since expired.

Sheriff Neil Bowie said that if Ross renewed her licence it would be endorsed with nine penalty points.

He also fined her £470.

We are always told that motorists NEVER drive through lights at red.
