50 Mbps account was topping out at 44-45 Mbps. I now find it is getting
60 Mbps.

That's more likely to be that rebooting a bunch of kit cleaned out old cruft.

Probably a lot of uses not on line yet.
Many uses would try to "fix" their computer/device when it goes offline.
Never to be heard of again?

Nothing changed here, been with Optus >6yrs on 25/5. (wireless), can`t
get any faster. (yet) Always consistent tho, all good.
