Using an LG TV with satellite tuner connected, on "auto" location it
gives me BBC Yorks & Lincs, when I want BBC East Midlands, so I've tried
setting the postcode to LE1, NG1 and DE1, all of which say the relevant
city plus "East Midlands", yet re-tuning still gives Yorks and Lincs,
how can I get the proper region on 101 rather than having to use 957?

Alternatively is there any way to move the channels? The LG programme
manager claims you can re-arrange them, but when you try, it says
channels between 101 and 999 can't be moved ...

I thought Freesat (IMSMC that is what LG uses) requires a full postcode
to define the area to be used, so will LE1, DE1, or NG1 work?
Try NG3 7AY which I happen to know is LoS to Waltham which is the main
East Midlands transmitter.

It is in Freesat mode (rather than FTA mode) I saw an FoI request that
says it doesn't require the final two characters of the postcode.

It does accept all the above codes and knows they are
Leicester/Derby/Nottingham respectively within East Midlands.

It will accept "LE8" and knows the council district, but won't accept
"LE8 5", it does accept my full postcode, then it knows the village
name, but still picks Yorks & Lincs flavour of BBC

For that it says "NG3 7AY, Nottinghamshire, East Midlands, England/City
of Nottingham, East Midlands, England" but still picks Y&L.

However I've just found a setting buried under "User Customisable
Programme" which allows selecting 101 from all* the BBC1 regions, and
102 between the BBC2 nations ...

[*] including one with no name, which has "South Today" as its local
news programme.

retune the transponder with EM on. It will probably show as channels 800+

When you retune, if the signal of the first transponder found will be saved as channels 1, 2, 3, 101, 102 etc. And the ones you want as 801...

We were getting Welsh channels with poor signal even though we are over 70km away (although the nearest Welsh TV mast is in England, but still over 70km away) until I worked out how to get around this.

Affects other brands, not just LG.

Which mast would that be that is in England but serves Wales (with Welsh
channels rather than English)?

My mistake,
Arqiva Ltd Transmitting Station, Moel Y Parc, Bryn Eithin Road, Afonwen, Mold CH7 5UU
is in Wales and the dashed line to its west on Google
https://www.google.com/maps/place/Arqiva+Moel-y-Parc+Transmitter/@53.2160933,-3.313697,15z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x48652cd95ff6c383:0x407fa600d3acb5c0!8m2!3d53.2210246!4d-3.3144405!16s%2Fg%2F11cn0x33cr?entry=ttu
that I took to be the border is some sort of long-distance footpath.

By contrast Winter Hill is 28km away and visible direct line of sight from where my aerial is [and pointing at it , nearly 90 degrees from the direction of Moel-y-Parc].

But this is freesat, not freeview.
