How high were the platforms pre-electrification? A lot of secondary
routes in steam days had quite low platforms by modern standards, and I
highly doubt much money was spent on the island before electrification
to keep it up to then-modern standards.

Presumably the heights have been adjusted again for the D stock?

They appear to have been. The photos online show level boarding and
modern paving complete with textured warning strip and yellow line so
money has been spent.

Hmm. I wonder if putting beams on those already somewhat manky looking wooden
planks is a good long term solution. Surely it would be better to just rebuild
the whole thing while the chance is there?
