Hi guys
I'm new to this group.

I've just been connected the CBB's full fibre network, but the documentation that came with it was very limited.

I want to be able to access the router configuration, but have no idea of the name and password.

Anyone got any ideas?

J.

Maybe the user/PW is written on a sticker on it?

What's CBB? <something> Broadband I presume, but what is the C?

What's the model of the router?
Is there anything in the documentation if you search online for it?

Plug a computer by ethernet, and assuming the usual default
configuration, it will be assigned a local IP address automatically.
Open a command prompt window and enter "ipconfig" to find out what
this is. The information will also show the IP address of the gateway,
which is the router. Enter that IP address in a web browser and it
should take you to the login screen for the configuration pages.

The default login name and password should be given somewhere in the
manual, which you may be able to download as a PDF file from the
supplier's website, but you can sometimes achieve results more quickly
just by guesswork. A common choice for the login name is "admin" and
I've seen this sometimes filled in by default, and sometimes the
password is also "admin" or it's just blank, or it's one of the things
they tell you never to use, such as "1234" or "0000".

I wouldn't waste too much time with guesswork, but sometimes it pays
off. If the router is programmed with an individual gobbledygook name
and password, it will usually be printed on a label on the router
itself, but the generic ones are usually very unimaginative.

Rod.

Who/what is CBB?

Ring them and ask?

Does the router have any identification marks on it?

If not can you find a picture of one like it on the internet that you
can point us to?

It might be customised by CBB and they don't want to allow you access ...

If the OP is in Malaysia, why are they posting to a UK group?

(although I'm sure we can help with generic advice, I doubt there are any
Malaysian specialists hereabouts)

This might help then.

That's the crowd who flooded our rural area a couple of years ago, at
least, trying to get support for a new local fibre network. They
promised a free year for founding subscribers. Nothing more was heard
from them, then recently there was a flyer implying that the service
was nearly ready. I asked my neighbour, who had been one of the original
signatories, and she said that she had had no news since she signed up
all that time ago.
Yawn.

That's what I was wondering, but wanted the OP to confirm.

Ouch, default username and password. I hope that's not internet
accessible...

Our village was handed over to the build team in September. Planning
notices have recently gone up.

I think the signup period (in which you're committed to take the service) is
12 months with (their) option of a 6 month extension.

The first 12 months aren't free as such, but they don't charge while you're
in contract with another ISP for up to 12 months - so you aren't worrying
about double payments.
