I check several email acounts at Zen. Yesterday for a few hours, and
again today, I see errors of the form: "The server responded: -ERR
cannot connect to authentication database."

So the problem is clearly with Zen.

Has anybody else seen this?

Yes got that the first try but it worked the second try and my mobile
works fine which is also on Zen and my Zen home network.

I emailed Zen support this morning as I kept getting popup error
messages with TB that it couldn't login in to the POP3 server, and did I
want to cancel, retry, or enter a new
password.

"Login to server mailhost.zen.co.uk with username
name@othername.myzen.co.uk failed." I got the same message with other
myzen email accounts.

Typical! I'd just clicked on the "send" button and this appeared in my
inbox from Zen:

"Thanks for your email.

We are aware of an issue on our systems that is causing this and our
doing our best to try and resolve this. The best we can suggest in the
meantime if it happens again is to reload the application you use to
view emails and check the settings are correct.

Apologies for the inconvenience but hopefully this won't be an issue for
long."

To be fair, I did mention in my original email to Zen support that I had
not yet tried webmail to see if there were any problems with that.
