Very interesting, thank you! Bookmarked for later entertainment.
For those who can't or don't wish to use Twitter/X, maps of
passenger flow for each station are linked from

I only get error messages (at best) stating "unable to render", or
"incorrect png format".

You don't need one:
https://nitter.net/undertheraedar/status/1742273707177853391

However the Github PNG links appear as just Git-LFS hashes for me (both
logged into Github and not).

As the OP said, the eXTwitter post ia just a link to the source, which can
be found here:

https://github.com/anisotropi4/kingfisher/blob/main/station.md

However, looking at it again, the Github images are giving errors, which may
possibly be a load issue. Hopefully the repository owner will be able to
sort it out. In the meantime, if you download the repository itself as a zip
file (or clone it if you know your way around Git), you can view the files
locally:

https://github.com/anisotropi4/kingfisher/archive/refs/heads/main.zip

That doesn't work either - the .pngs in the Zip all contain just text with
the hashes:

version https://git-lfs.github.com/spec/v1

size 285388

> https://github.com/anisotropi4/kingfisher.git

And cloning that via git doesn't work:

$ sudo apt install git-lfs
$ git clone https://github.com/anisotropi4/kingfisher.git

He's apparently exceeded his free bandwidth allowance on GitHub and is

(Probably Roland, change at Ely.)

Look at all the places people go from Berney Arms:

I've never caught a train at Shippea Hill, because the one a day that
used to run westbound wasn't a useful enough loophole to get a railcard
discount during the peaks [it's outside NSE].

And how would you ever get back to be reunited with the car.

These stats don't reflect actual journeys, they are based on ticket
sales. And over the years I've made several "mystery shopping"
purchases where I never expected to travel. Culrain to Invershin was
one discussed here maybe ten years ago.
