Can this be true?

"Veteran pirate station Radio Caroline is now operating on direct
solar power.

"The station now broadcasts on a community radio licence in East
Anglia and is heard across England, The Netherlands, Belgium and
beyond on 648AM from the Orfordness Transmitting Station on the
Suffolk coast."

I can hear it hear, It tends to play mostly album cuts and of course has
adverts, but has an internet stream in stereo. There is also every so often
a nostalgia based version which takes over Manx Radio AM at various times
as well. I also believe the floating studio is also around in a river
estuary in Essex, as I recall when Dave Cash died, his ashes were put into
the see off that part of the world by his wife, with folk like Tony
Blackburn etc in tow.

A friend of mine manages the Trans World Radio transmitting station in
Benin. There are 2 MF transmitters running at 200KW erp each. The total
building consumption excluding the transmitters is 12kW.

He has installed solar panels which can generate 13kW. Public
electricity in Benin can be unreliable and expensive, but the site also
has generating capacity so can run independently.
