Oh come on.... an extended version of that, with the numeric keypad, costs £70 new! For that I'd expect the monitor! Still I can get one for £20 used, and broken ones (fucked inside but all the keys there to use as spares) for £8. I shall do that if this Hama one is eaten often. These are £12 new and not as common so no spares available.

Do you touch type? if yes then make a cover with enough room to type but
covering direct key top access.

It is still a doubtful pleasure even for touch-typers.

I semi touch type. I can type with 90% accuracy without looking, so I usually look. I move my fingers around and use two per hand, plus a thumb for space.

I guess I could make a glass cover over it. But having to slide my hands under it would be a pest, and while typing I lift my hands to about 3 inches above the keys, meaning he could stick his head in there.

Or swimming with clothes on, which some strange people do.
Or sleeping with clothes on, which some strange people do.
Or scuba diving with a giant condom on, which some strange people do.

I can move it while I'm not here. The problem is when I forget. He can destroy a few keys if I'm out of the room for 1 minute.

You gotta be kidding me. It's impossible to post anything in Reddit. The autocancelbot deletes it if you so much as put a comma out of place.

Pared to:

When you are at the keyboard, you are using it, not the parrot. Only
need to keep the keyboard protected when you are away, or you could cage
the bird. Some solutions:

- Get a hard plastic guard to lay atop the keyboard.
- Get some plexy at the hardware store, use a heat gunto bend one edge
on which you use self-stick velcro to affix to the keyboard.
- There are keyboard trays (to elevate the keyboard if you place atop)
into which you can slide the keyboard for storage.
- There are keyboard drawers that slide under the desk.
- There are monitor/laptop stands under which you could slide the
keyboard making it unreachable to the parrot.
- Lay a blanket atop or around the keyboard.
- Flip the keyboard upside down.
- Put the bird in the cage, and clean up the poop before you leave.

Warn your friends before they come over that you let your birds "go"
everywhere in your residence.

Buy yourself a new keyboard and give him your old one? That way he can

The parrot is optional with this one.

You might have to sell your parrot, to afford it. Stainless.

The problem with a lot of keyboards, is how long the legends last.
Those are not double-shot, because they're stainless. My current keyboard
is not double-shot, and on the A,S,E the legend is fading.

Maybe the bird hates the noise of the keyboard or the attention given to
it, and that's his way of complaining :-D

I would think, a pallet of keyboards is in order.

Or let it loose in a lumber yard.

Parrots do not bend metal surely? They can undo nuts (but not nylock ones) but I've never known them bend metal. It's an African Grey.

I could buy 4 or 5 of those with this parrot. They're endangered, shot up in price.

What is double shot?

The legends fail on my £3 keyboard, but by that time the key has usually been removed. At the moment I'm buying loads of the same model and swapping keys. Trouble is he goes for the bottom right, the larger keys on the numeric keypad, which have a different fitting to the rest, so I run out quickly. If I move the keyboard to a "hidden" place as I leave the desk, he doesn't go for it, but my memory is like a sieve and it onl takes 2 minutes for him to realise it's there to play with.

It's a £1700 bird and I'm trying to breed them. Even if I was a homicidal maniac, that would not be lucrative.
