Virtual windows 11 disk has 7 character password. It was created in workstation 15.

Workstation 17 requires 8 character password.

I cannot re-open this disk ?! WTF ?! HAS VMWARE GONE INSANE ?!

The original virtual machine cannot be used because it cannot find a third harddisk file.

I cannot remove it because it can't find it.

TEST IT BETTER

move stuff around etc.

I'm afraid I have to agree with you. +1.

I created an additional virtual disk in VMWare Workstation Player 16.
I decided I didn't want it. I wanted to remove it. The
remove button is greyed out. The closest explanation
I can find is that "the encryption of the machine seems
to have something to do with preventing removal". The
..vmx file cannot be hand edited. An end-user wrote a Python
program, to decrypt the files, as Workstation Player does
not have the Decrypt option of Player Pro or something.

So yes, they are, unfortunately, fucking retards.

VMWare insisted that the W11 machine be encrypted, yet, the
hosting environment is unusable, if the user cannot control it.

There is a Python program of some sort, for accessing the VMX file,
which has the usual XML entries for defining containers and the like.
