Crazy cursor after 14.3 update

Updated to 14.3 this am. (iMac M3).

When the computer re-started, the trackpad controlled cursor would jump
all over the place after moving it. I expected this to settle out ... nope.

With some effort, re-started the computer ... nope - same issue.

Solution was to hardwire connect the trackpad to the iMac. This
immediately restored order. Disconnected the wire and all is fine.

Never seen anything like this.

I suspect this may be (bizarrely) related to the side monitor which used
to be TB-3/HDMI and maybe that config was saved, even though about a
week ago I received a TB-3/Display-Port cable (better connection
behaviour). The cursor jumping around behaviour was similar to when the
HDMI was having fits connecting. I know this sounds disparate - but the
observed behaviour matches it.

I have. It's very likely radio interference interacting with the
Bluetooth signal. It took me a while to figure out whats going on, but I
have a Ubiquiti access point near my office computers and the signal
strength coming from it is enough to cause this issue. So I have to keep
the trackpad on the nearest computer physically connected pretty much
full time to avoid this issue with it. I can deal with an occasional
missed key press on the keyboard, but I need my cursor to be reliable
and responsive.

I know that leaky USB-C ports / cables can cause interference with WiFi
and Bluetooth signal nearby. I wonder if this is what's happening with
your monitor.

You've written of this before. My setup didn't change during the s/w
update, so I doubt it's that. Also after getting it sorted, immediately
disconnected the trackpad cable ... all good.

Also, while the trackpad was nutso, the keyboard was fine (to be sure I
didn't use it much during this episode...)

Anything's possible... OTOH at work I have a 2nd monitor that is HDMI
only and with two monitors (Mac Mini) the "2nd" monitor (TB->HDMI) is
often a pain to get it to display. On my home 27" "side" display I was
having the same issue - then I noticed it had a Display Port input -
ordered the cable and that one is solved. I believe this goes down to
how Samsung do their sync connect v. how Apple does theirs (for HDMI)
and they're not happy with each other. Display Port is no issue.

(Mouse and keyboard are wired at work too).

That's what I observed as well when this was happening. After plugging
it in and unplugging it, the connection was stable ...until the next
time it happened *usually anywhere from hours to days later).

It rarely affected both at the same time for me.
