There were but a couple of real news server admins from text-only news
servers, nobody at all from the big premium news servers, and large
numbers of groupie hangers-on. Many more hangers-on in fact than the
couple of real news server admins. But D can feel a "hero" by "relaying"
a bullshit story to users.
