I am informed
(https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E53394_01/html/E54800/gmfew.html#scrolltoc)
that home directories in 11.3 are created as ZFS datasets. Furthermore,
"useradd -d localhost:/export/home/user -m" will create an entry to
automount /home/user, or so I thought. This does not happen. When I
login as user, I am told that /home/user does not exist.

I am very new to ZFS. Guidance would be much appreciated.

N.

check /etc/auto_home
Is there an entry there , something like

user localhost:/export/home/user

Does /export/home/user exist?

Yes to all these questions. I stupidly posted before checking. (In my
poor defence, it had been a long day and this is a private machine.)

Thank you.
