Thunderbird 115 uses by default Roboto fonts⁽¹⁾. Problem is, I don't see
a monospaced version, as would be used to display posts in Usenet.

What monospace font would you recommend as "similar"?

(1) In Spanish, but you can use google translate to read it:

No, thunderbird 115 defines in its configuration what font to use for
messages, and currently the default it uses is Roboto.

There is no Roboto Mono.

I am asking what *I* should choose instead of the non existing "Roboto
Mono" for monospace.

It looks to me like Roboto resembles a lot of other sans serif fonts; I
use Deja Vu Sans Book in Tb which DV has a lot of different faces and
Mono. It looks sorta like Roboto.

http://www.identifont.com/differences?first=Roboto&second=DejaVu+Sans

Maybe the .es localization chose Roboto because of some diacritical
letter in .es that wasn't in DV.

They are already installed; Thunderbird doesn't list them. Ah, wait, yes
they are, just that the name is not the same as the rpm.

Yes, they look good.
