Hi All,
Windows 11 22H2
KB502125 causes Explorer Patcher to crash, causing your screen to flash
at you one a second, like a strobe light.
<editorial comment> AAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!! </editorial comment>
Here is how to fix it. This about killed me to figure out!
-T

Windows 11: Explorer Patcher causing the screen to flash
after KB502125 installed.
Reference(s):

https://www.igorslab.de/en/no-panic-desktop-flickers-after-last-windows-update-kb5022913-and-no-reaction-explorer-patcher/
https://www.reddit.com/r/ExplorerPatcher/comments/xpz0hw/disable_explorerpatcher_when_windows_11_update/?rdt=61551

How to fix: Easiest, Hardest, Cleanup (make sure you do the clean up):

Easiest:
1) At the flashing screen, enter <ctrl><alt><Del>, select the
“task manager.”
2) On the middle, top of the task manager, click on “Run new task”
3) Check “Create this task with Administrator's privileges”
4) Browse to and select "C:\Program
Files\ExplorerPatcher\ep_setup.exe"
5) Tack on “ /uninstall” to the run string (it is not easy with
the flashing)
Note: full command line should look like this:
"C:\Program Files\ExplorerPatcher\ep_setup.exe"
/uninstall
6) Press okay
7) Reboot

If that does not work because browsing does not allow you to get
into ‘Program Files”, then ...
Hardest:
1) reboot your machine.
Flip the power off when Windows starts to boot (the circle goes
round)
Repeat until “Preparing Automatic Repair” pop up
2) select “Advanced options”
3) select “troubleshoot”
4) select “Advanced options” (again)
5) select “Command Prompt”
6) run
Diskpart
list volume
Look for the volume that C: got remapped to. The tip off is
fs = NTFS
size = xxx GB
Exit Diskpart with “exit”
7) move “dxgi.dll” using the drive letter C: got remapped to
move remapped_letter:\windows\dxgi.dll
remapped_letter:\windows\dxgi.dll.backup
for example
move G:\windows\dxgi.dll G:\windows\dxgi.dll.backup
8) if successful, exit the command prompt with “exit”
9) select “Continue” (exit and continue to Windows 11)

Cleanup:
1) after a successful reboot, remove Explore Patcher with
Program and features. DO NOT reinstall it!
<win><r> appwiz.cpl
2) if running Open Shell, move the task bar to the left and
set the icon to the shell icon (Open Shell’s “Start” icon
covers up the first icon on the task bar)
A) Open Shell:
--> right click on the “Start” icon, go into setting
and pick your shell icon
B) Task bar
--> right click on an empty stop on the task bar
--> select “Taskbar Settings”
--> scroll down and select “Taskbar Behaviors”
--> from the “Taskbar alignment” pull down,
select “Left”

I have disabled fast startup as suggested by you in previous posts.

Are you still looking for Chinese made battery powered vibrators for
your customers? I have contacts in China who will give you a better deal
than whatever you are currently using. Let me know so that I can send
you their catalogue.

Hi All,
This problem is a nightmare to fix. As
a preventive measure, I recommend you do
the "Cleanup" portion that I posted.

The Chinese made battery powered vibrators don't need clean-up because
they are so cheap that they can be disposed off and your customers can
buy new ones.

Some customers are also buying this to sit/sleep on when they are using
Chinese made battery powered vibrators: <33"H Scandinavian Sofa Bed
White Cushion Back Sleeper Sofa with Storage - Right 118"L x 63"W x
33.5"H Latex (litfad.com)

The good thing about battery powered vibrators is that they can used in
the cars as well. They are quite portable. I'm sure your customers would
be grateful to you if you show them how they work.

Of course, disabling fast startup in Windows is the first thing you have
to do in Windows as you have been saying this for over 5 years now.

So remember to disable fast startup on your customers' windows 10 and
windows 11 machines. You can force it on them even if they don't like it.
